Programs
Adult Drug Court
The Chesterfield/Colonial Heights Adult Drug Court accepted its first client in September 2000.
Eligibility Criteria
- 18 years of age or older
- Charged with a felony drug offense or felony property offense
- No prior convictions for felony violence, sex offenses or drug distribution
- Meets DSM criteria for substance abuse dependency
- Lives within 30 miles of the Chesterfield County Courthouse
- Agrees to participate in drug court
Services
- Random and frequent drug/alcohol testing - typically 3+times a week
- Weekly attendance in an intensive treatment program that includes individual and group counseling
- Frequent meetings and field visits with probation officers and the drug court police officer
- Weekly appearances before the drug court judge who will enforce and reward client participation and compliance
- Travel constraints and curfews
- Regular employment of 30 hours per week
- Weekly attendance in community support groups
Juvenile Drug Court
The Juvenile Drug Court accepted its first client in February 2003.
Eligibility Criteria
- Between the ages of 14 - 17.5
- Eligible for commitment to the Depart of Juvenile Justice (Track One)
- Eligible for incarceration (Track Two)
- No prior convictions for a violent offense or firearm charge
- Acknowledge guilt and the need for change
- Prior treatment efforts have been unsuccessful
Services
- Random and frequent drug/alcohol testing - typically 3+times a week
- Curfew monitoring
- Home/School/Work visits from drug court staff
- Weekly court hearings to address program progress and status
- Immediate sanctions and rewards
- Intensive Treatment Services to include individual, family, group counseling
Partnerships
The drug court programs are implemented using a multi discipline team approach to include representatives from the:
- Judiciary
- Commonwealth's Attorney's Office
- Private Bar
- Police Department
- Probation
- Mental Health
- Public School System
The Drug Courts also partner with other community agencies in an effort to foster empathy, build self-esteem and encourage community outreach:
