Comments from Drug Court Graduates

"My life before the Drug Court program included treatment centers, intensive outpatient treatment programs, psychiatrists and 12-step programs. None of these were able to change my pattern. Drug Court taught me how to be an honest, productive membre of society. It helped me with the process of working on the many issues that I had going on inside of me. They gave me the tools to become connected in the recovery community. I graduated....and my charges were dropped. I gained so much more though. I not only became employable while in Drug COurt, but I was given the Employee of the Year award (where I work). I am married and have a child. I have been clean since February 2008. I am committed to being a good husband, father and positve role model to my child."

"My journey through Drug Court has been long and rough .... I have a totally different mindset and attitude as opposed to a year or two ago. I look at life alot different now. I have learned responsibility and self-control, but most importantly, I have learned self-respect....I see the light at the end of the tunnel."

"Being in Drug Court forces you to mature whether you're ready or not....it shows you how to live your life sober, the right way....I'm so thankful to have had the chance to be in this program....It wasn't just about finishing the program, it was about learning new things about myself, stopping the use, and growing as a person."

"My mom and I had a relationship, but knowing that I don't have anything to hide anymore improves the quality of the relationship between us. This is a great feeling...My step-dad has put a lot of faith and trust in me....It feels really good knowing I can be trusted once again."

"I feel Drug Court is designed to make the individual conscious and accountable of his/her self. I feel that these privileges have allowed me the appropriate amount of time to make good decisions on my own, get in touch with self because I see the relevance in it for the right reasons and not because I am in fear someone is watching or that I may get caught."

"I have all of the tools that I need to make my life work for me now....I think I have most of the understanding I am every going to get; it is now time for me to get to work exercising all of that knowledge!"
